First AR15 build is 99% complete, just need to add my Streamlight w/ pressure switch. Being in NY, obtaining an AR is cumbersome - most pre-built options are not compliant with state laws. In order to be compliant I built a "featureless" AR which is the only way to have a removable magazine - imperative for self-defense application. Who wants to be stuck disassembling the upper from lower and releasing the mag to reload while asking the intruder/attacker to hold on a min LOL. Still need to zero the optic, looking forward to when I've got time to go to the rifle range at the club. I learned quite a bit during this process, and it's true - building AR's is pretty much like Legos for adults 😆

This seems insanely foreign to me. I can’t imagine owning a gun. What do you use this for?

Hopefully will never have to really use it, but it's just in case - with the prevalence of guns over here it's better to not be the one without one if anyone ever tries to break into the house imo. Also if shit hits the fan and there's zombies, collapse of govt, etc lol. Mainly I'll just have fun target shooting though.
