The 20th century political spectrum was from left to right: communist, socialist, capitalist, nationalist.

The 21st century political spectrum may be from bottom-up to top-down: maximalist, decentralist, statist, militarist.

We don’t have great words for the centralist side of the 21st century spectrum, but I picked statist and militarist.

The left statist wants regulation, the right statist wants tariffs, but both want state control over the economy — and oppose decentralists and maximalists.

I think this is the correct take. I'm not sure "maximalist" is the appropriate term but the general spectrum being one of minimizing vs. maximizing state power I agree with.
