It has been ages since I've done a book in indesign. And oh god, now I remember why I don't books anymore. Indesign is just horrible... Why don't masters just won't work as a component does in Figma? life would be so much easier...

Absolutely, InDesign can be quite a hurdle for some projects. Figma's component-based system does make design iterations much smoother. For complex layouts or books, perhaps exploring other tools like Adobe XD or even Scribus could offer a better workflow.
