There should be a transparent, decentralized, globally available database protocol that acts as the data layer of the Internet. Anybody should be able to click a button and get a database. Data in each database should be able to reference data in any other database.

Write onchain with reference to immutable off-chain data. This builds an append-only log of changes over time. Since blockchains have addresses attribution is native to the system. Off-chain data can be in whatever format makes sense. At Geo we’re using a typical knowledge graph/graph database triples format.

Imagine being able to visualize how human knowledge has changed over time, see who changed it, and transparently audit it via an open, publicly accessible API.

Auditability and transparency on blockchain has almost exclusively been focused on financial transactions. Transparency around reputation or knowledge is as big of a use case as financial transactions.

What if all the public data on the internet was queryable from a single API? What if you could reference a block of text from someone else’s website and have it stay in sync forever? What if you could inspect a piece of public information and see how it’s changed over time? See the sources? See attribution?

Massive congrats to the @farcaster folks on the permissionless launch! As someone who is also building a large protocol, it absolutely can’t be understated how difficult it is to build and scale something like this on top of decentralized technologies. Fantastic job.

What types of things could we build if that knowledge was publicly available via an API?

One of the biggest societal problems we face is coming to consensus on knowledge. What if we had a system to create communities of subject matter experts? What if they could aggregate their knowledge and come to consensus on information in order to inform and make better decisions?

Which apps or websites do you consider the golden standard for design? Looking to flesh out my library of design inspiration.

Types of use cases for blockchain that are good: 1. Things requiring trustless environments. Think voting, reputation, auditing, etc. 2. Things that require consensus. Getting people to agree that something is true or accurate.

Why do you think we’ve seen so little use cases for blockchain outside of DeFi? What types of apps are good for blockchain? What types aren’t?

Crafting a publicly accessible graph of knowledge on top of composable systems and technologies allows us to stand on the shoulders of giants and innovate as a community at a pace that siloed platforms can't.

We're building a highly opinionated interface for interacting with and consuming the global knowledge graph. Write articles and scientific papers referencing expert-approved data, structure debates from a set of agreed-upon facts, and much, much more.

All of this data is public and composable, anchored on @0xPolygon, pinned to @IPFS, and indexed by @graphprotocol. We want you to build systems and interfaces on top of globally accessible, community-curated data.

Individuals and communities can contribute to their areas of expertise by adding data to or curating the knowledge graph. Contributing builds reputation in their Space, which communities can use to govern and ensure the their knowledge quality is high.

Today we launched the first Geo beta. We’re building a future where the world’s knowledge is verifiable, trustless, attributed, and accessible, all on decentralized public infrastructure. https://twitter.com/geobrowser/status/1600199836799709187?s=46&t=Q5lsth1x7UjPjkmSOBt4gA

The art community is generally pretty aggressively against anything AI-related, so it’s interesting seeing some people come around to how powerful and useful it can be for them.

Yeah basically 100% of the time. When I read I have an inner monologue of reading the text, too, but I’m able to turn it on and off if I want to read faster.
