The skull, resting on worn texts and vibrant textiles, symbolizes the transitory power of words and the fading voices of the past, yet it also stands as a symbol of resistance—a reminder that even in the face of mortality, the Kurdish spirit remains unyielding.

"Carpe Diem" is thus a narrative of defiance against the oblivion threatened by forces of erasure. It encourages the onlooker to live with purpose, to cherish each moment, and to remember the stories woven into the fabric of our existence.

As with the fleeting bloom of the rose, it acknowledges the beauty in transience, and with a sense of urgency, it captures the Kurdish tenacity to endure and make each day count amidst the shadows of uncertainty.

This still life is a meditation on the impermanence of knowledge, beauty, and life itself. It hints at the richness of Kurdish history and the relentless march of time that has seen empires rise and fall on the soil of my ancestors.
