someone build a migrate to base tool that: 1. deploys canonical bridged ERC20 to @base 2. opens PR with metadata to superchain token list repo 3. submits metadata to etherscan, blockscout, coingecko etc would be very deserving of retroactive funding

Please one thing: Please upgrade your default factory. A plain openzeppelin ERC20 is so 2018, we have so many good extension nowadays, like eg ERC777. We have a chance to upgrade old contracts with canonical bridges, please don't waste the chance to have a better token standard

let’s explore it for sure. not sure about the ERC777 standard and its security implications, but I do see an opportunity to iterate and improve what we have today. bullish on more tokens migrating to @base, and making it dead simple for teams to do so.

It would be great to have some innovation. The polygon standard to have meta tx is already better than nothing (thou the upgradability of their brigde tokens are controversial). Baking in some permit2/permitC would be interesting for (cross-coin ) intents, but don't know how feasible it is.

Permit extensions can certainly be baked in and it's something we've considered for those who want to make use of it. Permit2 is deployed in base and doesn't require token extensions but not sure how widely used it is.
