A reminder on channels

- Channels are *not* decentralized yet

- Do not squat channel names with the intention to sell them to brands later; this is extractive behavior

- When channels are decentralized and incorporated into the protocol later this year (likely onchain!), then you can do what you want! Just like FIDs

What is decentralized about Farcaster today?

- FIDs and sign ups
- Hubs and core actions like casts, reactions, follows and profiles
- Verifications, e.g. connected addresses

What's not decentralized?

- Channels (casts and replies are today) — will be later this year
- Warpcast DCs — closer to 2025 project

So does that mean clients can’t send DCs till 2025?

correct. clients are free to implement a different system if that makes sense for them.
