i am all for web3 ethos but i think, the apps should pay for the community infrastructure on behalf of users

"Community Owned Infrastructure" means we're responsible for it, like a Costco membership, or a co-op 👍  We pay the protocols directly, the protocols pay the service providers, and we get the services. This is the epitome of web3.

tbh the gas thing, (micro-payments) is deliberate trade off against selling ads.
