It is a bit baffling to me that devs are so willing to outsource key components of their app like auth to third parties that have 0 interoperability

Rolling your own auth is not hard nor dangerous today - there are tons of frameworks that give you the exact same devex without the vendor lockin

people want to focus on the problem that they are solving

yeah i agree. i just feel like when you are in the flow you narrow down your focus to only the most important thing. hence we end up like that

vendor lock in for a core flow like auth is an expensive price to pay
