in the 2010s, big companies were avoiding open standards such as RSS. now, they are actively coming up with new open standards for AI like MCP and google just released A2A what has changed?

I was remembering recently how in the early 2010s, RSS was being chastised for "stealing" traffic from websites. Reminded me of LLMs today.
