Is there anyone in the US gov talking seriously about what to do about mass job automation? The “augments” claim already doesn’t hold up for entry level jobs, and is likely to not hold up for all jobs the closer we get to ASI. From Kayla Scanlon’s substack:

I was just reading her sub this morning and thought about casting exactly this passage. It’s incredibly worrying that the automation trend is asymmetrically hitting entry-level jobs the hardest — it can lead to a whole generation of disenfranchisement, and these are people who’ll stay on the sidelines if they can’t acquire the initial skills to get past a set of basic capabilities that can be automated
