another reason mute channel is important is because people self-censor because they don't want to be annoying. knowing that other people have the option to mute channels they're annoyed by, makes people less likely to feel annoying and thus less likely to self-censor

every day is another opportunity to enable channel muting and make all warpcast users super happy :-)

Plz allow me to mute channels. It’s all ok if my fellow folks want to have fun with whatever The Current Thing is, but feels like I have to choose to unfollow friends or take on lots of noise on my feed.

Mute Channel could be good for everyone: 
- everyone default opted-in to recommended posts from any Channel
- simple Channel paradigm: "posting in a channel increases post distribution" 
- anyone can opt-out of reco's from Channels they don't like by muting them, allowing us to curate *out* topics we don't desire

Please let me mute channels if they're going to do this. By mute I mean I don't want to see posts in those channels from people I follow (unless this is a bug)

Please need mute channel functionality before election season really kicks off. I will absolutely leave this app if politics takes over the main feed.

muting channels can’t come quick enough

Also, the irony of me incidentally spamming my followers with recasting all those “pls mute channels” request is not lost on me, so I’ll stop here.
