I've been trying this “wild” new experiment at work. When someone says “I’m so sorry…” I say “I forgive you, …” The reactions have been fascinating. I teach my 4 y/o this and yet we've somehow forgotten it at work. Its such a simple yet powerful way to build genuine trust 🤯

Interesting experiment but IDK if it would translate well elsewhere. I’ve lived in cultures where people apologize at every opportunity, more like a polite way to express empathy at whatever inconvenience you’re facing, even when they don’t feel responsible for it. “I forgive you” would imply that they are

Yes, its definitely not universally relevant (even in the United States), and requires some judgment
