The politicking before and during the conclave must be a sight to behold. Imagine a Survivor episode where geriatric dudes in fancy red robes compete to wear the funny hat. Except they cannot promote themselves nor scheme for others too overtly because they must maintain the semblance of humility and being guided by a higher power. And that’s all happening under Michelangelo’s timeless frescoes
