Also to respond to your question more directly: I don’t necessarily understand the appeal, but I assume there’s a novelty factor for the guys involved of pushing the envelope, a kind of personal bragging right of having ticked a very unique, once-in-a-lifetime box.

I think she mentioned performance anxiety in her blog. When the blunt reality of it all is suddenly a lot less appealing than the fantasy itself
