Running an Ethereum full node + validators is relatively easy and very low hardware cost (<$500 USD).

I’ll add that it’s also reasonably straightforward to set up (plenty of excellent online guides for entry-level Linux users) and to maintain (mine is maybe one client update a month now). 

And it consumes very little power (*cough* PoW *cough*).
