I wonder how much of Boeing’s decline can be attributed to SpaceX and Blue Origin sucking up all the aerospace engineering talent. Would be interesting to see an evaluation from that lens.

It may have been an accelerating factor, but Boeing’s woes started well before SpaceX and Blue Origin got into the fray. They started in 1997 with the culturally catastrophic merger with McDonnell Douglas and the subsequent influence of Stonecipher and McNerney at the helm
