Not long ago @aviationdoctor.eth shared a modern example of Art Deco – here’s my response. This is Rose Hill, a 45-story Manhattan skyscraper by Rockefeller that opened in 2021. Big fan of the buttresses with bottom-lit chevron reliefs, which I find produce an appearance that is simultaneously imposing and refined.

Gorgeous! What I find remarkable about art deco is that, unlike other equally heavy distinctive styles (such as rococo with its frills or bauhaus with its sharp lines), I don’t feel like I’d get bored of seeing/living in art deco on the daily. It has timeless elegance. I’m glad they’re still building those

How true. Those other styles you mention are quite homogeneous, whereas Deco has a rather wide range – all the way from late Nouveau (10s) to early Mid-century (40-50s).

Art Nouveau, with little hesitation. Pure craftsmanship. Every structure, a fresh set of curves. Zero copypasta. Here’s a modern example from a resto in Piccadilly:
