Why can't you inherit your ENS from the L1 to L2s ?

Good question. Nothing prevents an L2 from reading the L1 contract (doesn’t cost any gas). This was tested some years ago on Optimism (https://weka.medium.com/mvp-of-ens-on-l2-with-optimism-demo-video-how-to-try-it-yourself-b44c390cbd67). But as far as minting an ENS on an L2, you’d need the contract to be there, and some kind of mechanism to avoid name collisions with L1 or other L2s
