I’ll go against the tide & say “no” out of principle. I’m not even anon here but some people are, & I deeply respect their choice. I think having to “trust” the platform about how the phone number will be used is against the privacy and crypto ethos of trustlessness. Phone numbers are last century’s tech.

I’ve lived in totalitarian countries where the state knows of every call to/from your phone. Right now FC is largely used by first-world tech bros, and that makes it easy to forget that much of the world needs more anonymity, not less, to even use the platform freely in the first place.

Totally agree. And, if this becomes a norm, it practically removes the freedom to stay anonymous: yes, you can be anon, but you will be a second level citizen compared to the rest.
