As I slowly move my operations off of Notion, it's shady practices like this that remind me why. Obsidian has been a great alternative for personal use, but lacks the architecture to be fully robust for collaborative teams. For that I'm looking to revisit Anytype and experiment with Appflowy. Has anybody here used either of those two in a collaborative setting? https://www.reddit.com/r/Notion/comments/1kli8c4/open_letter_to_notion_ceo_about_pricing_and/

Shout out to @danicaswanson for documenting their journey on transitioning to Obsidian a few weeks ago. I suspect there will likely be some churn as a result of these changes and transitioning to an alternative (or at least backing up) is good practice.

That's a great open letter. I've been a Notion customer since 2019 and I'm still on a legacy plan ($4/mo if paid annually). I didn't even know this sort of thing was happening. My annual renewal date comes up in a few weeks and I've been thinking of cancelling my Notion subscription anyway ever since I moved to Obsidian. Reading about this behavior makes it even more likely I will do so.

Notion might walk this back given how negatively it’s being received. However, anything you can do to move your work to obsidian that you haven’t done already, do it before renewal comes up.

Enshittification at work. I’m deep into Obsidian since December and already on my second Publish subscription for two separate vaults, one collaborative (I’m just about to test vault collaboration using a shared iCloud folder, no Sync plan). I just wish I had discovered / put effort into Obsidian sooner (as a former Dokuwiki and then Notion user)

I'm with you, Thomas. As I wrote in the cast below, my only regret is that I didn't migrate into Obsidian sooner. I had actually tried Obsidian two or three times before in the past few years, and I loved it. But I had also accumulated volumes of work in Scrivener since 2012, and I knew it would be labor-intensive to make the full move, so I kept resisting. But this year something clicked, and I finally bit the bullet and did it. Freed up so much headspace I can hardly believe it. Big relief! As we speak I'm working on cleaning up and re-organizing my files for an upcoming launch. I plan to re-publish special collections of highlights (imported from years of my LiveJournal, WordPress blog archives, Substack, etc.) using the Digital Garden plugin. For collaboration in Obsidian, there's a new community plugin called Relay that's working well for me and my collaborator so far. Maybe it's worth a try for your situation too? https://warpcast.com/danicaswanson/0x809677fe

I use iCloud with no problems, especially now that you can keep files downloaded permanently (prevents conflicts) have you considered the digital garden plugin? it's a free alternative to obsidian publish :) https://youtu.be/7f8e5IiUkeo
