Time to share a personal story to go with the theme of this weeks /success rounds. Today has been 7 years to the day since the last time I used heroin. This is my mugshot from soon after the last time. I thought my life was fucking over at this point. Multiple felony charges and not a leg to stand on. Somehow today, I am free and clear with my record relatively in tact. I’m married to a girl I have been in love with since high school, and I’m working at a company that I love. Plus, I’m developing my independent skill set in a way that might lead to even more opportunities down the road. Moral of the story is, it’s never too late to turn your life around.

Oof this hits harder than the usual casts I see here. Good on you for turning the ship around in time! I’m so grateful I’ve always lived in places fairly sheltered from such drugs. It’s depressing to read how they’ve destroyed entire communities in the US in particular

Thanks mate. Life has always ended up working out for me. Likely because I have a strong family that’s always supported me even when I was fucking up. I wouldn’t be so lucky without them or if I was a different complexion probably. In my opinion, prohibition kills far more people than it saves, and it doesn’t accomplish any noble goals. It puts victimless drug users in jail instead of rehab, it encourages criminals to run illegal enterprises, and it’s insanely expensive with 0 good outcomes. A far more effective approach would be to take all of the money spent on incarceration, judicial processes, and law enforcement, and put it into helping drug addicts recover. Not all will listen and succeed, but it would get a far higher success rate than the current system which just criminalizes people for having what science confirms is a disease. 🤷🏻‍♂️
