You’re gonna hate me but we need a 1T dollar military budget. Issue is we also need to clean it up because they pay 500 dollars for Ticonderoga Pencils at DoD. I’m a boomer when I say this @purp but Eisenhower’s two war front thesis still holds well. We just need to stop wasting money. I’d allocate most of the money for veterans though, personally. Fire away😭

Why does a thesis reliant on accepting that "the US holds ultimate moral superiority" hold well today, when it's the one country promoting regime changes and right wing fascism across the world?

Because they’ve made sooooo many enemies over the years demilitarization is something I don’t trust. I’d be comfortable fixing military budget at 4% GDP, less than 5%. I’m aware they’ve misused it. But it’s a view I maintain. I’m anti war but I think being prepared for war is important. Especially when we regularly protect states like Israel.

This position sounds like a vicious circle - when you take militaristic actions, you'll be hated and have to invest more into military, which will require justification, which means more military actions, which makes you hated more, etc... Gotta break the cycle.
