The mission of Audius is simple: to put creators in control. But how do we do that? In short: by being decentralized, controlled and operated by the community. If you rely on Audius, you are not subject to platform risk. Let’s unpack this 👇🧵

What is platform risk? It’s the risk you take on when you are dependent on tools that someone else controls. Those people can make choices that are antithetical to your goals, but you have no say in those choices. (1/5)

The difference in Audius is that no company / group of shareholders control this common means of distribution. The people who use it do. You. The situation of Myspace, Bandcamp, Soundcloud etc. can’t happen on Audius. (3/5)

Unfortunately where crypto meets music, most ignore this. There are many “web3” platforms that are structured exactly the same way that Myspace, Bandcamp, etc. were. If we repeat the mistakes of the past, we should expect the same outcomes. (4/5)
