The stinging tree, Dendrocnide moroidea, commonly known as gimpy gimpy, is a notorious shrub found in the tropical rainforests of Australia, the Moluccas Islands, and Indonesia. It shares a distant relationship with the common nettle, but its sting is far more potent than both nettles and hogweed. The plant's sting is so intense that it can potentially trigger a heart attack in individuals who come into contact with it, earning it the grim nickname of the "suicide plant." While there are no official records of such extreme cases, the excruciating pain it causes is said to drive some to despair.
