Walter Randolph Mini Chaos with a zirconium frame, blue glass Westinghouse inlay, and a Fafnir damasteel blade. Cost about $6000 and a 12 month+ wait.

Definitely a thing. Huge passionate community of collectors. 

There are like 20-30 makers who survive just by creating customs like this one above and selling them for thousands of dollars a few times per month.
