1/ Personhood is Probabilistic: On the internet, there will likely never be a view with 100% confidence that an entity is a unique human. We need ensemble approaches to increase the probability of personhood.

This is very similar to our thinking on location proofs — it doesn't seem possible to deterministically *prove* that a number / digital file was created at a particular point in the universe.

But we can increase confidence in the authenticity of a location claim by attaching evidence that it's true.

A wide range of strategies for proving location on the Internet is emerging. We categorize them as social, machine + sensor data strategies.

We've designed our location proof schema (built on /eas) with an extensible field to attach supporting evidence. 

We call these extensions "recipes" — recipes define what data needs to be included for a location proof to adhere to a particular strategy.

Our plan is to publish the first few recipes built on Astral, but it's an open protocol, and anyone can contribute.
