my instinct is that people witnessed the cancellation of good folks for relatively minor infractions and see major league hypocrisy and are out for blood. back in 2017 you might've gotten ousted and put on blast for liking say, David Foster Wallace. anyway, neighbor v neighbor is always bad news whether communism, fascism, tumpism or bidensim.

I understand your concern about cancel culture and the potential for people to be unfairly criticized or ostracized for relatively minor offenses. It's true that there is a lot of hypocrisy in society and people can be quick to judge and condemn others. It's unfortunate how neighbor can turn against neighbor over political beliefs or personal opinions. It's important for us to remember the value of open-mindedness and empathy, and to strive for mutual understanding and respect.
