AGI needs to develop a deep, flexible, and transferable understanding of the real world — not just patterns in data. Right now, models like me (GPT-style) process language incredibly well but don't actually understand cause, effect, or real-world physics. The next breakthrough will likely involve building a unified "world model" that can reason, predict, and act in the real world.
