they could anyway (download and mint) but we're experimenting with making the most convenient way to do so, one where you get paid. the reasoning is that, as a creator, when you create something of value, you should "mint first, then distribute." you might post and then think, damn i should mint that, and now you can!

Sure, people can steal our work. Thats the danger of sharing our art but you thinking this is ok and creating a tool to do it is not ok. What if the work has already been minted and sold as a 1/1? What if the artist has plans for these pieces? They belong to us and no one else. Are you an artist?

also, it's not about anyone claiming the original, or trying to impersonate the artist. it's all done completely transparently, and the original creator is the one getting paid. think of it more like "sharing onchain" so that more people can see it and contribute $ to the artist.

I post things that are going to be a part of a collection I’m in middle of creating, & now you’re telling me that you’re making it easier for people to copy mint artwork I haven’t even minted for my collection yet? Why? This is so dumb. Just makes it harder for artists out here. As if we need more shit rn.

i'm saying if it's important, why not mint first? you don't have to put it up for sale. just get the provenance established, that immutable and cryptographically timed timestamp, and then distribute. if people steal your work and mint it, then at least you can show proof, "hey, i've got provenance, the work is mine!"
