Today, here in Salvador (Bahia, Brazil), we celebrate the day of Saint Barbara, syncretized with Yansã, the Orixá of Winds, Lightning and Storms.
This place in the photo, Pelourinho, receives tens of thousands of people dressed in red and white, in a party that lasts all day, and beautifully connects sacred elements of Catholicism and Candomblé. From a certain point on, the party turns into a carnival celebration with lots of music and takes over several streets in this part of the city.
