- Knowledge / about art: Even if you don't know Hokusai, you have definitely seen his most famous painting, "The Great Wave of Kanakawa"! Hokusai died in 1849 after 89 years of life. This great Japanese painter devoted nearly 80 years of his life to art and created more than 30,000 works of art during this time. But he was never satisfied with himself and in the last days of his life he said: "If God had given me only ten years... only five more years, then I could have become a real painter."
