two things can be true: 1. many farcaster users feel as though a 'FC Cabal' is favored at the client level, and enjoy permanent, outsized benefits from being active, early 2. its totally possible to join Farcaster and grow an account from 0. I joined on Feb. 5th and my account is in the top 300 users by engagement according to most dashboards I've checked. You have to post & reply consistently, and it really helps to have something to say.

We should celebrate and study the success stories for sure. We should also ask whether the frequency of success is optimal or acceptable or reflective of group values. Unpopular opinion: from Feb to July, fewer than 5 accounts have been able to achieve Proxy Studio's level of growth. The market had priced in at least 500 accounts being able to grow to >5K followers in 5 months

yeah, I agree. which is why I think we should take seriously number 1 I didn't have the feeling it was impossible to grow when I started here, it felt hard but doable. what can we do to bring that back?

do you have data on the "fewer than 5 accounts" bit? or just your feeling would love to see it

Gut feeling. I'll dig a little into the data when I have time. I engage with plenty of accounts at ~1.5k, whereas I'm pretty sure I've gained multiples of 3.5k followers over the same period. Maybe follower count is not the right metric though, I'll try to think of something better

follower account definitely isn't the right metric, both because autofollow skews it and because of bots. engagement is also imperfect but better would be really curious to see these numbers
