it's a big commitment, I agree.

Ours has an honorific (電鍋先生), backup plastic paddles/scooper spoons, and only gets washed by hand with its own special sponge. That little jingle makes it all worth it!

I haven't been able to justify Zojirushi. My $40 ons cooks rice perfect to my liking (I eat white rice as opposed to brown). But it doesn't have a jingle at the end.
