- why Zora, why not Tezos
- why Base, why not BNB
- why OP, why not Polygon
- why Aztec, why not Monero/Ripple/...

is it fair to say it's more about the social layer than the tech?

The answer to the first three: the people / ethos of the Ethereum ecosystem. And the compounding developer ecosystem advantage.

I've found people either value that or don't (which is fine!), but in nearly 10 years in crypto Ethereum has captured and maintained this for the longest time (previously it was Bitcoin).
