earnest question: why would a new user choose to spend their time in a place where everyone agrees that not-active-enough small accounts have to give their things up when active brands ask for them? do we have to clarify harder, no you own your username and PFP (unless it's animated) but not some of the new toys until later when you will, eventually. that's just being early doncha know

valid point -- but also just pointing out that this isn't something new and it's always been noted which parts are not decentralized And I'll just throw it back to you -- why should folks be able to squat or flip something that's not actually theirs? Honestly can see both sides of this, especially with generic words.

we are talking about it => it is something new. something = translation of words into action my answer is: freedom means you legislate as little as needed and let mechanisms resolve as much as possible. E.g., a norm for brands to DC or ask publicly for something that is someone else's hands. Point of allowing squatting is that adults can negotiate most things themselves, govt can protect the weak and efficiently provide public goods etc 1/2

2/2 I asked elsewhere, why should Zora get a web3 shortcut (ask Merkle to give them an unused network asset) when in web2 they'd have to plan a launch, maybe buy a domain, find a backup if existing owner is unreasonable. In policy, we balance eminent domain against property rights (which extends to renting not just owning!). Humans have learned "for the good of the majority" (active users) should have limits. Strange to me that "We told you we could take it back at any time" has insufficient counterbalance in Web3
