Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson.   It’s epic high fantasy.  
Something like 1500 pages I think.  Not sure since I’m reading on kindle.

 - Curse of the Mistwraith Books 1-3 by Janny Wurts
 
Other EXCELLENT books by Guy Gavriel Kay

 - Tigana
 - Under Heaven
 - The Lions of Al-Rassan 

Once you've read these three his style and cadence are very similar and you don't need to read others

Also as someone who loves epic fantasy what are your go to recommendations?

Good question.   I like the Mistborn Trilogy as an entry to the world of Sanderson but all roads eventually lead to the Stormlight archive, of which book 5 is what I’m reading now.   He has created an entire Cosmere with multiple worlds that all have different magic systems.
