Google has just introduced its GenCast AI model, which is designed to predict weather conditions at high resolution. A paper published in the prestigious journal Nature shows that its capabilities are more advanced than other models. It can predict weather conditions up to 25 days in the future. This is the longest period of time among weather forecasting tools. This artificial intelligence has been given four decades of weather data. Of course, this model is specifically tuned to detect the physical features of the Earth.

Google’s newly introduced AI model is also among the group machine learning tools. Such models can predict more than 50 possible events with different probabilities. Of course, forecasting speed is also of great importance, and according to Google, a 15-day forecast takes 8 minutes on the company’s TPU V5 cloud platform. The ability to predict different states in parallel gives the AI models an advantage over older tools that require hours of processing on supercomputers.
