My /success story is most likely unique in this community. Iโ€™m a PhD scientist and work on discovering next-gen cancer immunotherapy drugs but it was a hell of a road to get there. I spent most of my 20โ€™s in school or working for minimum wage in a laboratory on very specific subjects that only a handful of people truly understand. Transitioning into biopharma was the start of something better as instead of working on obscure science by myself Iโ€™m able to combine my unique skillset of mass spectrometry based proteomics with others with different expertise to tackle problems that are impossible to solve alone. I've seen my work directly help patients with no other options which keeps me motivated. Most of you know me from /cattown where I've been focusing on strategic partnerships and to get /cattown visibility on Farcaster. Working with devs day to day has been a great experience and I encourage others to do the same. Become passionate about a project, talk to the devs, and go from there!

Man idk, it has been a hell of a journey to get here. Iโ€™m glad I did it but grad school is such a grind. That being said itโ€™s the only way to do science at the level I am now but I hesitate recommending a PhD program to friends unless they are fully committed. @christin just did a /okbanger episode on it
