Q. how is it possible to create 31 $PING-backed assets?

You can select any ERC20 asset as a base asset during the creation process! You can create with WETH like common ERC20 token or a community asset like $PING! - it's your choice!

Q. why do base assets matter..?

▪️ Price increase - if the base asset's price increases, the new asset's price will likely rise as well!

▪️ Locking up - significant amount of the base token will be locked up. For example, the $DEPE asset has already created 230 assets and locked up 517,542,395!
