Should i keep the prize as 1 winner gets 500 degen tomorrow or would it be better to reward 2 submissions 250 degen each or 5 people get 100 each?

You can just make it 250 for 2 for just tomorrow 
Since you said some people are complaining 


You can keep the orice at 500 
And just tip the participants 10 degen or 20 for actually putting in effort 
You don’t have to tip all though 
Just a selected few as compensation

My concern is that I don’t want the quality to drop but i also don’t want people to just stop engaging either. It’s a balance.
