what does the word “interoperability” mean to you? 

What is an action that comes to mind?

Interoperability is sending messages cross-chain, from one to another. And for me msg is not only a crypto transaction

And message can be any data, from a transaction to a price oracle.
Interoperability unlocks tons of features Binji , like there are some protocols where you can lend on one chain and borrow on another
