Hey devcasters, what's your opinion on permit2? Might be wrong, but I haven't seen any adoption around it... reading the docs again I'm still not sure why the standard ERC20 allowance, but with the exact amount, would not be enough... Ty ty

With standard allowance you'd have to do an onchain tx each time, wait for it to get confirmed, before interacting with a contract. But with permit2 you sign the approval request offchain and then instantly interact with the target contract. It improves the UX a bit (though still there are 2 wallet popups)

This, assuming you sign an infinite allowance to permit2. I'm asking this mainly because lack of adoption seems to be caused by this minimal UX improvement. We're assessing permit2 on L2 where signing an allowance is also cheap, so there's little excuse not to enforce an exact amount allowance directly.
