What's Safe and how much is secured?

For those unfamiliar with Safe, it's the premier multi-owner smart contract wallet in crypto, securing over $69 billion dollars in value across +14 EVM networks, and is easily one of the most important backbones of the entire #Web3 ecosystem

The origins of Ape-Safe

The first ape-safe package was originally created by 
@banteg for use alongside Brownie (our predecessor), which helped /yearn create and manage-

For Ape we redesigned the plugin from scratch with banteg's library as the main inspiration (ape-safe for brownie was renamed to brownie-safe to avoid confusion) and we designed it so that it plugs deeply into Ape's account management system-

meaning you can use your Safe directly as you would any other type of account within Ape, such as keyfile/hardware signers or Frame wallet!

Using the plugin

To do a smart contract call from your Safe account, you just do that interaction in Ape using sender=my_safe and the plugin bundles all the signature collections required to perform that action as the Safe, including submitting the tx from one of the signers!

But what happens if you don't have enough signatures?

Well, the plugin will automatically upload the collected signatures to the Safe API if it does not collect enough to publish onchain, meaning others can use the Safe UI to review and approve transactions as they are used to!

Also, one last treat is that we include the `ape safe` CLI command which will allow you to view and execute pending transactions from the API, search transaction history, and so much more!

So what can I do with it?

Safe allows you to increase trust in how your manage your personal/project funds, and has advanced features for delegating capabilities (even to a bot), so you can use it to manage treasuries, prop/quant desks, and automated trading in a secure way!

For example this is an interesting automated farming system created by 
Dialectic Group that uses Safe to manage a large bot yield farm and securely deposit

Using the power of Multi-Sends

One super interesting thing you can use in the new plugin is Safe's Multisend feature, which allows a Safe to execute multiple actions at once

This can be a simple approve-and-swap tx or a more complex chained interaction featuring multiple steps, and the Safe will execute them all at the same time!

This is useful when using a Safe in an automated way so we made this simple using the `ape_safe.multisend` submodule!

We personally believe Safe will continue to be one of the backbones of crypto since it allows individuals, small teams, and collectives to do things safely and securely that otherwise would be reserved for big expensive orgs for a fraction of the cost

Part of our 2024 goals is to incorporate more and more of ape-safe into our plans for the Silverback platform, thus letting users create a production bot army to do their bidding in a secure way:

Try it out right now by typing in:

Note: that anyone still using the `ape-safe` package to work with brownie should use `brownie-safe` instead since ape-safe for brownie is no longer maintained

Also we will be using beta releases for ape-safe following 0.7.0bX until Ape 0.8 come out, after which will move the plugin out of beta using the 0.8.X format for releases
