If you really think the Fed / Gov wants to fight inflation, you haven't been paying attention. 

They need inflation for "Financial Repression" which basically means...

They need inflation to steal your wealth and move the DEBT / GDP ratio back down, and... it's working...

Per a 2015 IMF white paper titled "Liquidation of gov debt," they outlined how a period of "high inflation and low bond yields" could be used to yes, liquidate gov debt.
