The Mayan Tzolkin is a sacred, ancient calendar. Within its 260-day cycle, I was born on day 38. This illustration is inspired by my own birth kin, White Crystal Mirror, and its hidden kin, Blue Lunar Night.

In the Tzolkin, each solar seal has a hidden seal. Etznab (the mirror, the knife) and Akbal (the night, the house) are hidden from one another because they represent two sides of the same coin.

Etznab represents the infinite, the symmetrical order of the universe, where the inner and outer worlds reflect each other. This seal is also known as the Knife, embodying the attribute of clairvoyance and the power to cut through illusions (this illustration is mine :)

Since these energies truly work together, I wanted to create a sense of unity between them in my illustration. The feminine figure holds a crystal knife in her hands, cutting through the nocturnal veil that separates the inner world from the outer.
