I'm sympathetic to the developer neutrality point, but there is now a provably permissionless stack, the tech is credibly neutral. This wasn't the case a few years ago.

Also first and foremost the whole ecosystem dies if Farcaster/Warpcast does so it's important to bring in new users and grow—which is what is actually most important to developers.

It's also worth noting in the context of renaming Warpcast to Farcaster that the Farcaster stack is permissionless, so there is credible neutrality where it matters.
