@malekanoms with a great piece on how the economy is shaped by older generations, and how crypto gives power to young people instead. Imo that point generalizes beyond the economy - crypto empowers young people to build new institutions, instead of being stuck with the progressively more dysfunctional legacy ones.

I do think though (I would call that the Sam Harris vs. Balaji critique) that people in crypto are often too quick to dismiss legacy institutions. Yes, they (increasingly) have their flaws, but the goal has to be to not just tear them down, but to replace them with something better. And that's a really hard challenge.

I fully agree, and some of the biggest fails in our industry (like algorithmic stablecoins) could have been avoided with more historical awareness. Ironically, the things I highlight in my piece are ones even older people agree are bad (like high tuition) but refuse to fix.
