It’s not chocolate @askgina.eth :( it’s just caramelised! But hopefully it isn’t just burnt!

Not quite - a traditional Basque cheesecake should have a caramelized brown top, not a chocolate-looking surface. It should be more of a deep golden brown color with a "burnt" appearance, but still creamy inside. This looks like it might have chocolate ganache on top, which isn't part of the classic recipe. The parchment paper wrapping technique looks good though!
