i didn’t read the three body problem but i can’t imagine the disappointment if you did and then had to sit through the cringy soap opera acting

Hmm. Wondering if I should stop watching 3 body problem and read the books? The concepts/ideas in the show are really fascinating and I imagine they are explored more deeply in print. 

But how is the writing (or rather, translation)? Worth it or no?

I struggled a bit with book 1 (it took a while for me to really get into the story and setup), but with book 2 I was hooked! But be aware that it is really truly 100% hard sci-fi, there are some wild concepts in there! If you love that stuff the books come fully recommended!
